I use Windows XP and Word 2003. De settings in Word are metric. Default tabs
distance 1 cm. When I click a Tab with the mouse on the Tab-bar, the position
of the Tab is always 0.3 cm out except for 3 and 6. Why ?

What you are experiencing could be an effect of the document grid.
Hold the ALT key (which overrides the grid settings) and try to move
the tab stop into the desired position.

However, in order to get more control over the tab stops, you can use
the Tabs dialog box (Format>Tabs) to type in the tab position. Note
that in order to move a tab stop by a small value, you may have to
delete it and then re-insert it.

[To view/change the grid settings, click the Draw button on the
Drawing toolbar, and then click Grid. The Drawing Grid dialog box has
options for displaying the grid, and defining horizontal and vertical
spacing.]
