Word 2003 inserts red underlined correction notes

Some of my documents written in MS Word 2003 have got several correction
marks. All in red.
I suppose I must have been guilty by touching some button without knowing.
What can I do to reset the doc with its original black color, and remove the
comments ?

You have turned on Track Changes, probably by accidentally pressing
Ctrl-Shift-E.

Turn it off the same way -- press Ctrl-Shift-E (there are at least two
other ways to turn it on and off as well.)

In the Reviewing Toolbar, find the check-mark for "Accept Current
Change." Next to it is a tiny triangle. Click on that, and choose
Accept All Changes. (Or, if you don't want any of the red stuff to be
in your final version, use the triangle next to the X-mark for "Reject
Current Change" and choose Reject All Changes.)

Turn off Track Changes (double-click TRK on the status bar) and then display
the Reviewing toolbar and Accept All Changes in Document.
