word 2003 character spacing

Hello, just recently upgraded to word 2003 and i noticed that the width for two spaces between words (ie. two space bars) seems to be larger than normal, as compared to 2002... I don't know what was changed, but how can I fix this? This is what it looks like to me

In the old. Is this wide between the period (.) and "Is
In the New. The space after the period (.) is bigger even though they are both two space bar strokes

Thanks! for the help.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?YW5kcmV3?=,

Does it also print this way, or just look like that on screen?

My guess is you need to upgrade your graphics card and/or printer drivers.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think it's the graphics card, because when I open up documents I saved previously using OfficeXP, the spacing were fine, with two spaces not as wide as the one in word2003....
