Every time I Startup, Window Installer tries to
reconfigure Word and then I get several boxes, saying
error 1706, plus Word is looking for a Install disc. Once
I close all the boxes using the (X), Word is there as
normal. I also have trouble opening any Word document. I
have to save to My Docs and then use another program to
open. Any info regarding any fix/solution would be
appreciated and thanks in advance.

I also had a problem with almost the exact same error
message. I had downgraded from Office XP to Office 2000
(simpler to use) and I started getting them. The windows
installer starts first (usually three times) and if you
don't cancel them it asks for the XP installation disc
(Which I no longer have...)
