Word 2002 Protect Document

I have been creating a form with simple check boxes. I now want to protect my
document, so customers can use it but not change it. However my Protect
Document option is greyed out. Am I missing something obvious?

Have you used the Control Toolbox (View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox)? In
that case, the problem could be that you are in "Design Mode". If the first
icon in the Control Toolbox is turned on, click it to exit Design Mode. You
cannot protect a form while you are in Design Mode.
