word 2002 - deleting words

Suddenly my word2002 has started deleting complete words whenever i select a
single letter in a spelling mistake
I have searched everywhere to find out why but with no luck
Any ideas please as this is driving me mad

On the Edit tab of Tools | Options, make sure you don't have "When
selecting, automatically select entire word" checked.

It was not ticked but i just ticked it and then unticked it and now all
appears to be well!!!

sorry but it appears to be back again - when i select a few letters in the
middle of a a word the whole word dissapears or just the rest of the word at
times.

Your further advice would be appreciated

Does this still happen if you start Word in Safe Mode (by pressing Ctrl
while starting)?
