Word 2000 Auto repagination when scrolling

In a particular document, word repaginates each time I hit
the page down key. This takes a second or two and as you
can imagine, it becomes annoying in a large document.
The document is of some 40 pages, with some images and a
table. The problem happens in print layout view, but
normal view is OK. The problem started when I inserted
section breaks to change a page layout to landscape.
However, deleting these does fix the problem. Any thoughts?
