Won't write to DVD-RAM

I have a multi-format DVD re-writer and running WinXP Pro.

I formatted a Maxell DVD-RAM disc and was able to click & drag files in the
same way as with a floppy. I have since bought an identical Panasonic
DVD-RAM (non-cartridge) disc but despite formatting in exactly the same way,
this won't allow click & drag option. When I do that, temporary files are
copied over but Windows insists on telling me that I now need to write
(burn) files to disc.

I have checked that the Panasonic disc is write-protect disabled, the same
as the Maxell disc.

I have formatted both the Maxell & Panasonic discs to FAT 32.

Am I doing something wrong ? Is anyone able to assist me, please ?

Regards.

hi, mike

is it possible that a isk in a cartridge is a removable disk and the DVD-RAM
(non-cartridge) is a removable MEDIA!

on the disk you can copy (drag and drop)
on the M E D I A you can drag and drop to burn on cd or dvd

ITS THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THINGS
(maybe SP4 will help - end 2015)

Thanks for the reply, Ron, but I'm not really following. Can you expand, for
me ?

Both discs are of the same type, non-cartridge, and support the same
version. The only difference is the make.

SP4 ?

Regards.
