Hi- Got a tough bug here! After upgrading from Win ME to
WIn XP, whatever CD (I have a CD burner and a DVD reader)
drive is the master of the 2 drives, will not read a CD! I
have tried 4 different drives & a new cable and whatever
drive is jumpered as the master reads zero bytes on the CD.
XP sees and configures the drive, and when you load a CD it
sees it there, it just reads zero bytes. If the master is a
burner, it will even burn the CD fine, but just can't read
back anything after! If you jumper them as cable select,
whatever drive is the last one on the cable fails the same
way. I tried a friends hard drive in my machine (with XP)
and everything works fine, and I have tried all these
drives and the cable in other machines with no problems, so
I know it's something with XP. I do have my copy of the
WIN XP upgrade CD, but was not sure if I reloaded XP if I
would lose all my other data again. Thanks in advance. Randy

Ron,
It is Driver 5.1.2535.0 for both drives. Any ideas? Thanks
for your help in advance. Randy.
