won't log off

When trying to shutdown or just log off so my wife can log on to her user,
the system will not log off the user. I shut the system down last night and
it was still trying to log off this morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kenstyl,

Hit ctrl+shift+escape to open Task Manager. Make sure all applications are
stopped. Then go to the processes tab and start killing them until the
system will logoff. Make note of the one that you kill that allows it to
logoff.

also having this problem I had to do a hard boot 3 times now because it
starts to logoff but doesnt finish. it will not run task manager when in this
state. I seem to have tracked it down to the Switch user feature. The last
time this happened I had just restarted, checked my E-mail on admin account,
then swicthed to wifes account to check hers. logged her off fine but when i
tried to log off mine it stopped after closing the side bar, again Task
manager would not run some programs would others not. but would not log off
or power of either. So now I dont use the Switch user feature anymore
ALWAYS log off just for her to use it for 2 minutes. So far so good but
would STILL like to find a fix for this .
