Hi -

Wake On Lan requires the machine receive a "magic packet"
from either another workstation or a server. There isn't
a utility in XP Pro to wake up a remote machine - but a
web search should bring up quite a few utilities you can
use to wake up a machine.

If you've got an NT/2k/2003 server on the network there's
a plugin for Microsoft's Systems Management Server
that'll do the job.

Hope this helps -

So theres no command prompt utility for a WOL?

There are a few command-line utilities that'll do this -
but nothing that comes with Windows XP.

One is MC-WOL. It's free and you can find it here.

I've never used it but it might be worth a look.

Hope this helps -
