I am encountering a problem when using wmv-files in PowerPoint 2003 where the
wmv-file exceed 40 MB – the wmv won’t play.

I am using Windows XP, PowerPoint 2003, and Windows Media Player 10

The wmv is 768x432 (16:9) bit rate 842kbs

Any file size under 40MB works just fine

Whatever the problem its not size - Ive used the Julie Larson Green office 12
video in a ppt (its 600mb!)

Is the 40mb file in the same folder as the others (and hopefully in the same
folder as the pres.?) otherwise the link path length may not be short enough

I always put the wmv files in the same folder as the ppt, so the path is short.
- Came to think of it – "perhaps the wmv filename need to be short too" so
I experimented a little and BINGO – the WMV filename must not exceed 24
characters before the extension (.wmv) in order to play.

Ahhhhh, very interesting. Thanks for posting back with that!
