WMP10...

I REALLY despise the look and feel of WMP11. Its so cluttered and way
too busy with all kinds of extraneous junk. I prefer WMP9 or WMP10.
Is it safe to uninstall WMP11 from Vista and install either WMP9 or
WMP10 in its place?

It's not even possible so therefore it's neither safe nor unsafe. Wait
until the bugs are worked out and get iTunes.

iTunes is even worse than WMP11. At least with WMP I can use many
file formats and I am not bound by the folly of apple computers inc.
Hopefully someone make s a nice SIMPLE and CLEAN media player that is
compatible with Vista. It really amazes me how many people think that
glitz and fluff piled on top of each other endlessly means that a
software product is better....

WMP11 would not be so bad if you could do thing like turn off the CD
Art view and when you are looking at your music sort by artist if it
didnt insert a line at the beginning of each letter of the alphabet
break the list into 26 parts etc. MS has dumbed down Vista to the
level that AOL users running Macs must be happy as pigs eating shit.

You can turn off the "junk". I only keep artist name, album, and song title
turned on without the album art. Just use the add/remove collum feature.

How do I turn off the CD covers and the grouping of artists, albums by
letter? I just want a CLEAN and SIMPLE list of titles as in WMP10. I
graduated elementary school, I knwo how to tell when a list of items
that are alphabetized change from letter to letter all by myself! :)

You can't turn it off. You can click on the column headers to change how it
is sorted but you can't get rid of what I have been informed is technically
called the "Group Detail Header" though I can't see how they came up with
that as a description of what should have just been called "group header".

You can also set the view to Details to get rid of the album art.

IT IS MY OWN OPINION that as part of their DRM efforts, the Windows Media
Player product team is targeting those who do not think for themselves and
who follow along with whatever is presented in front of them. IT IS MY
OPINION that DRM is the reason functionality was replaced with eye-candy in
Windows Media Player 11.

DRM?

You are 100% accurate whne you say the functionality was replaced with
eye candy in WMP. That is also VERY true of Vista as a whole. While
Vista MAY be somewhat 'faster' or 'more secure' than previous
incarnations of MS OSs, had they now wasted so many resources on trying
to make it all look so 'kewl' for the skript kiddiez (and AOHell sheep
morons) it could have been a very nice OS!
