WMP 11 Default view

At startup, WMP 11 opens to "songs." Any way to change this to, say, genre or

artists?

Sure. Open the folder, click on the column heading you want to sort
by, for example artists. Let the scroll bar you see at top finish,
close down Explorer, then reopen and the next time it should remember
and show the folder contents in the sort order you picked. You can
also slide the columns over so artists would be the first column if
that's what you want to sort by.

Just click and hold down your mouse button as you drag until the
columns are in the order you like. This has no effect on sort order,
just appearance.

Um... Which folder? My %\username\music folder? Because that doesn't change
how WMP opens.

Whatever library view node you shut it down in is the view it will reopen
into. So click the Genre node, shut down WMP, open it up again, voila. =)
