WMM closes down when i click on vid. transition/effect

please can someone help me. I have been able to capture
and save vid. but each time i try and drag a transition
onto story board WMM will close down. My friend and i
have similar PC and im sure , but not a 100% that i have
compatable hardware. I cant deleate WMM but have tried to
re-install , but still no success. PLEASE HELP a
frustrated user.
