I wouldn't worry about it unless you continue to get the problem.

What were you doing when the problem occurred?

D

Diana

It's when I start up the computer, when the desktop is up and everything is
loading. I don't do anything that makes it happen

D

Diana

you said if I continue to get the problem...it has happened about 6 times
now in the past couple days

There is no need to start a new thread for this issue. You already started one earlier today and you should have stayed with it

Well I thought that my other one would be at the bottom of the page or on
the next page by now and no one would see it and I was hoping for more of an
answer that the person gave me....remove photo bucket? lol
Anyway sorry for the repeated thread, but I did get answers on this one.

I did check the knowledge base....I don't know what the heck all that stuff
means. Some of us don't understand all those technical words. I could try
doing the wrong thing on there and make it worse for all I know. I have
seen people help others on here so why do I get sent to the knowledge base
instead of getting some help? Thanks anyway

Diana

Oh yeah...like I said before. It happens when I boot up the computer. There
is nothng I am doing when it happens.

Diana,

Very well put... not everyone understands all that technical crap. That
said, I think John -was- trying to help you. He didn't know that you had
searched the Knowledgebase... he didn't insult your intelligence in any way
that I could discern. You seem a tad defensive to me... but that's just my
read on it. I'm sure you could ask 10 regulars in here and get 10 different
replies as to whether Mr. Barnes was insensitive to your needs. Personally,
I do not.

Anyway, back to your response... you didn't indicate that you'd searched the
knowledgebase, just that you'd searched MS's website, so why be so offended
when someone points you in that direction? Perhaps -you- assumed that the
op -would- assume that you'd searched the KB. Too many assumptions for a
smack down, methinks.

And... with that all said, I applaud your understanding that you -could- be
"doing the wrong thing on there and make it worse..." Bravo! Too many folks
just dive in with no understanding of the implications of their actions.

As to having a solution to your problem, alas, I do not. Sorry.

On checking to Knowledge Base the problem seems to be mainly related to PC's
with Server2003 installed, I presume you are not running that OS, there are a
couple relating to XP, but nothing on Vista.
Which version Vista are you running?
Provide PC details, please
Had you installed any new programs recently, before message appeared?
Have not got answer just yet but will investigate further, and get back to
you!!
Is your PC generally operating OK, once it starts up?
On the other occasions it requires a 'hotfix", not absolutely sure yet wiil
be in touch.

another source, post back & let us know.
Then we all benefit.

I asked what you did before this started happening. I meant before the
series of errors started appearing. Had you installed a new program, a new
driver etc. I would try a system restore to before the problem started and
see if it goes away. If not you can roll back to your current restore
point. You can look in the startup programs and uncheck any programs that
you recently installed. Type msconfig in your start menu search box and
select msconfig.exe then look at the startup items

Diana

I haven't installed anything new recently and I have been trying to think of
anything I've done at all recently, I can't think of anything, besides doing
the normal McAfee updates, Windows updates etc etc.
I am using Vista home premium 32 bit
Dell xps 410, pentium core 2 duo quad 6600 processor 2.4 ghz 2 gig of Ram

Sorry for being so defensive. I just took what he said the wrong way. I
assume things too much and speak (or type) before I think. Sorry for being
rude and I appreciate people trying to help me.

Can someone tell me how to fix this or if there is a patch to fix it. I
checked on MS website for a fix for it but I can't understand alot of what
I read on there. lol thanks

Try rebuilding your wmi repository

ie the final procedure on this page...

Repairing and re-registering the WMI
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm

ie the procedure from this line onwards
"On other versions of Windows you can rebuild the Repository by doing the
following"...

You'll need an elevated cmd.exe in Vista (ie 'Run as administrator' via
right-click) for the service stopping / starting

Well, truth is... you were far less insulting than many of the regular
Anti-Vista, Anti-MS crowd that hang here just to sow FUD and promote their
personal agendas.

Heaven knows when one is experiencing a problem with their PC, whether it be
OS, hardware, or software related (and to those obsessive geeks: yes, I know
OS's are software..), then it's easy for one to become frustrated and
perhaps a tad brusque when responding. Thass OK in the long run. (And, yes,
I meant to type "thass.")

I admire your quick acknowledgement.

I see that this thread has continued and you've gotten further suggestions.
I hope your problem gets fixed and that you post the high level points of
what fixed it. (I.e., "rebuilding the wmi repository fixed my problem"...
not how to rebuild the wmi repository...)

Best of luck!

I haven't gotten that WMI message now since the day I posted this here so I
