WMDC 6.1 Still Does Not Work

I am furiously angry. I have a Motorla Q that synced just fine with XP. I
just wasted $2300 getting a Sony VISTA laptop that WILL NOT SYNC no matter
what. Turned off anti-virus, turned off firewall, opened individual ports,
more and more and more! I was told "don't worry, Microsoft hears you! They
will put out an upgrade to WMDC in a few weeks guaranteed to fix your
problem." Well, the "upgrade (6.1) does not work! Now I have a $500
smartphone that cannot talk to a $2300 laptop. I am angry, I feel totally
lied to and screwed over. For the first time in my life I feel like saying
screw you Microsoft!

I am sorry for the rant, buy why, why, why does it have to be so hard when
it worked before?

Apologies, RickB

Hello how do these 2 devices communicate? via IR, bluetooth,
or some cable (like USB)

if its USB then I would suggest you install vmware, install XP inside it,
and use a USB port to communicate the phone via XP...

until or if ever a solution is found for vista..

if you do have usb and you need help to do the above post back

Which Wireless provider is the "Q" phone from ? I've hooked up more
than a few Q phones/Palm Treos to Vista machines and all have worked
with WMDC ( including the recent 6.1 update ).
One thing you have to avoid is installing ANY version of ActiveSync on
a Vista machine. Have you checked the Event Logs for any clues to why
the Q won't sync. Also, Smartphones tend to use the full 500mA current
draw on a USB port. You have to be careful not to overload either the
power/bandwidth limitations of the USB channels.
