WM stop showing messages, they are all shown as .html attachments

Hello everybody.

I hope someone can help me on this.

This morning Windows Mail stopped showing all messages in my computer. I can
not even read a message in the preview panel. I can read the headers, but the
body of the e-mail is now shown as an .html attachment. Each message has 2
attachements, one .html that I can read in IE, but the other one is a .txt
message that will not open. This is just one example: ATT00237.html;
ATT00234.txt.

The IT guy in my workplace says that it is a configuration problem, but
nobody seems to know how to change this. New messages and old messages are
shown the same.

I have to mention that the speed of WM decreased considerably after this
problem. I do NOT have an antivirus program such as Norton or McAfee, just
Windows Defender.

Also, I already unchecked the option "Read all messages in plain text", I
found some posts here talking about a similar problem, but not the same.

Thank you all.

Hi Rodrigo
Open windows mail (WM), on the menu bar select Tools, on the context menu
drop down select Options, in the Options dialog select the Read Tab, Under
the heading Reading Messages UNCHECK read all email in plain text.

Even when plain text is checked for the reading you should still see the
text, albeit in plain text that the composer/sender typed in the message/
email. Anything else pictures, graphics etc and the html code will be shown
as an Attachment that you can open or save and scan and then open.

Master Gary:

Thank you for your recommendation.

I have a corporate e-mail account, would it work with WLM?

Can I migrate all my WM messages to WLM? I have over 35 GB of e-mails as a
result of 15 years of work.

Thank you for your support.

Regards.

Master H Brown:

Good morning.

I did what you suggested and WM keeps showing the messages as attachments,
olds and news.

This is really strange.

Is there a way to reinstall WM? Perhaps this could fix the configuration
problem (if this is the cause).

Thank you for your help.

Regards.

Rodrigo Díaz.

Any mail server using standard POP or IMAP protocols will work with WM
or Windows Live Mail. Corporate mail servers can be a problem depending
on how the administrator has it set up. Some companies don't want
employees using official mail from home.
By the way, the ATT... attachments you are seeing are typical of a
corporate Exchange server that has been tightened down to work only with
Microsoft Outlook email clients.

I would be very hesitant about using a mail store that large (35 GB) with
any freebie email client. Microsoft recommends Outlook for that type of use.
