Can't open old spreadsheets created with Windows ME that are .wks. Downloaded
converters, also using Office 2000 now with Windows XP. Any ideas?

..WKS files have nothing to do with WinME.
They are MS Works files (or Lotus 1-2-3 ?) and *may* be able to be opened within MS Excel.

Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (also includes Microsoft Word)

($99.95 - $20.00 rebate = $79.95) (excellent value)

..wks was used by lotus 123 v1 or works.
do you still have works? you can try to open it with that.
I remember someone I know used to run their whole business on works and
years later got a new machine with office and was never able to find a path
to convert or update that data.

So you're old school to like me:)

I looked it up on the net and supposedly this was how it used to be (not
that I actually remember anymore)

..wks Lotus 1-2-3 version 1A, Symphony 1.0, Workspace (Xlisp), MS Works
..wk1 Lotus 1-2-3 version 2.x, Symphony 1.1+
..wk3 Lotus 1-2-3 version 3.x
..wk4 Lotus 1-2-3 version 3.4

Blimey...Symphony! That's a blast from the past!

Yeah, my parents had a bunch of works .wks spreadsheets and I couldn't find
away to open them in excel even with all the converters. Well they opened
but most of it was gibberish with every setting I tried. They still have
works on cd but we couldn't find the damn cd key.
