With Microsoft FAX Nearly One Minute Delay between Using Print

With Windows Messaging and Microsoft Fax under Win 98 SE, when I
printed a document to Microsoft Fax, the fax wizard would start a few
seconds after I said print.

I installed Outlook 2000. With it, there seems to be a consistent
nearly one minute delay between when I say print and the fax wizard
starts.

If Outlook is running, there is no delay.

The osa9.exe program doesn't make any difference.

Needless to say, this is an annoyance, having to go through two steps,
start Outlook and then print, rather than simply printing.

Does anyone know of a way to make Outlook 2000 work like Messaging?

State your version more accurately. Some versions of Outlook 2000 do not
even support Microsoft Fax.
State how you configured your version to use Microsoft Fax and what
operating system you are now using. All of this software has been
unsupported for years.

I started with a long working Windows Messaging and Microsoft fax
system.

I have used it for sending only and thought it worked fine, despite bad
comments I have read over the years about Microsoft Fax from people
saying use another fax program. I am slowing getting the impression
that the comments that I heard came from people trying to use it with
Outlook, as opposed to Messaging, and that Messaging itself was the
Microsoft high point of fax support and that I should revert back.

I installed Outlook 2000 SR1 from a cd.

After installing, I changed over to c/w from imo.

I upgraded to SR3 with a download from Microsoft.

I applied an update k0901 that I found on the Microsoft site.

I tried both running with my prior fax only profile and adding the fax
service to the profile that Outlook set up on install. They seemed to
both work the same.

I went through this process twice, once on an expendable test system
and once my real system when I thought it was working. I didn't
discover that Outlook had to be running to avoid an approximately 50
second delay between printing the fax and the wizard starting until I
put it on my real system.

Question. Should I try Outlook 98?

OS is Win 98 SE.

I tried running detect and repair and fixmapi. That made no
difference.

I also went in and made Outlook 2000 my default mail program at control
panel, internet options, programs. That made no difference.

But you said you were using IMO, right?
You must change to Corp/Workgroup and make sure you follow all the
instructions on that page.

I switched to C/W after I initially installed O 2000. The install
wizard didn't give a choice of imo versus c/w.

Then you must list the precise steps you've used to get Microsoft Fax
working for me to troubleshoot.
