Wireless signal weaker and weaker???

I'm using a Netgear router and Netgear adapter with my HP notebook and the
signal has become ridiculously weak over the past month. The Netgear
Configuration Utility showed the signal strength from 60 to 90 for the first
several months and it's now down to 15 to 45 along with a severe case of the
slows!

I had problems with XP SP2 until I read on this group that authentication
should be disabled. That got me back on line but it's still a weaker signal
than after the initial install.

I've placed the router within 2 feet from the notebook and moved it 20 feet
away. Doesn't appear to make a difference.

Anyone have and idea or can you tell me what parameters would cause this.

Anything can do this, weather changes, etc. Try moving the wireless access
point and the receiver.
