I have a desktop with a D-Link (DI-624) router and a laptop with a D-Link
(DWL-G650) Wireless Cardbus Adapter. Both systems have Win XP PRO SP-2.
Both systems are in Workgroup "WORKGROUP". When I click on "View workgroup
computers" on each of the computers, both computers are displayed on each
computer. When go to the desktop computer and click on the LapTop Icon, all
of the laptop shared devices are accessible. So far, so good.

Now, when I go the laptop, after clicking on "View workgroup computers", and
click on the desktop Icon, I get the following message:

\\Desktop is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions.

Access is denied.

I have several devices on the desktop set up as "Shared".

I certainly would appreciate help on this. I have been struggling for two
days with and made Zero Progress.

Thank you

Bruce

If you do not get further help from here: D-Link has a good forum at
www.d-link.com which can help you troubleshooting their hardware.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I ain't no whiz at this stuff, but I can
ping both the gateway (Router) and the wireless card from both computers.
When I called D-Link, I was told that that confirms the network was up and
running. Did I miss something. I have stopped looking at hardware because of
this. Can hardware somehow effect permissions?

I'm still going to go to the D-Link forum. So thanks for the suggestion.

Any feedback and/or suggestions will be gratefully appreciated. I'm about
ready to calling in "The Geek Squad!"

Thanks...

I checked D-Link and "No Joy".. Come on all you "Experts". Give me some
ideas to try. If there is some more information I need to give you, just let
me know. I am really at a "SHOW-STOPPING" stage.

Thanks.....

On the desktop: do you have a simple file sharing turned off? and then
give
everyone full permissions.

I thought I'd post the entire scenario that used to create my network.
