Wireless Networking in SP2.

Hello,

This is my first time posting to a newsgroup ... so please don't kill me if
this msg is in the wrong group but I can't find a group for WinXP
Networking. If it is, please could someone tell me where this should go.
Thanx :)

Has anyone been able to get any type of wireless networking products
running in WinXP SP2?

On my laptop, I plug in the PCMCIA card, no problem. Install the drivers,
no problem. When Windows tries to initialize the device, my laptop freezes.
No error screen/window. When I reboot, Windows boots normally as though
nothing happened. If I try and boot with the card plugged in, Windows
freezes at the bootloader so I can't even get in when the card is plugged
in.

Any suggestions?

Thanx

Hi

This sounds like a PCMCIA card, slot or driver issue rather than something
specific to Windows XP SP2. Have you access to another brand/chipset PCMCIA
card for the purposes of testing?

Kind regards

I had a Dlink card that would cause a reboot if I tried to open the little
application that allows you to set the card and show wireless networks that
it finds. I tried it in another computer. I sent it back to my vendor who
said it was bad and got me a new one. No more problems.

or freezes when trying to initialize the card. This is on a Compa
Presario 1500, Netgear WG511T Card and XP with SP2. Has enyone
remedie for this ??
