Wireless Network

Two questions:
1) Does mixing manufacturers/brands of different wireless
networking products (e.g. D-Link Router and Belkin PCI
Adapter) affect the performence of the network and will
the network even work?

2) If I got two PCI Adapter cards and a router (both
wireless), would I be able to have a wireless network? or
do I need a wireless access point too? or does the router
act as the wireless access point?

1. Mixing 11mbps (802.11b) and 54mbps (802.11g) adapters will have some
effect on throughput, but if you stick with all 'b' or 'g' type adapters, no
problem.

2. By definition a wireless router includes an access point - that's what
makes it a wireless router, as opposed to an Ethernet router which does not.
