Wireless Network w/ XP & ME

D

Doug

I have a desktop running XP Home and a laptop running ME.
The desktop is hard-wired to the router/AP and the laptop
is connected via wireless. Both are abl;e to share the
cable modem with no problem. However, I have been unable
to set-up a home network between the two. ZThey can't see
files pr the printer. All componets have file and printer
sharing enabled. When I run the networking wizard, it
creates the workgroup but does not see any components
connected. I am unable to access the printer that is
connected the deskptop. Sometimes, the wizard creates a
bridge that won't even allow me to share net access.
Help!!! (please)

Try setting up a user in your ME machine with the same
name and password that you use on the XP machine....
Should work fine.

Hello Doug
Read through this tutorial
http://www.homenethelp.com/web/howto/net-update.asp
When you run the wizard choose This Computer Connects To The Internet
Through Another Computer On My Network Or Through A Residential Gateway
Don't enable ICS (Internet connection Sharing) and leave the ICF (Internet
Connection Firewall) OFF until you get the network running.
Be sure to put a firewall (ZoneAlarm) on when you are done.

Hope This Helps
