Wireless Network / Internet Trouble

Hi there everyone. I am having trouble with my wireless internet. When i was
home over the Christmas break, I attempted to forward my port on my wireless
internet at home so my router would allow me to access some of my programs
(the router had a firewall on it blocking these programs). Ever since then,
the only place i can access wireless internet is only at my house, nowhere
ele. When i go other places, I can find connections and connect to them, but
i can only connect to the network part of it, not the internet. For example,
when I go to the Network and Sharing Center, it will show the connection
between my computer and the network working properly, but then the line
between the Network and the Internet has a Red X through it and the Internet
Globe is grey. When i troubleshoot, it says it cannot contact my server /
ISP, and it shows that the ISP is the one from my wireless at home. What can
i do to fix this? Can someone please help? I'm at college and cannot access
any wireless, kinda a pain in the butt if you ask me, but it is my own
doing... Any help would be great, thank you very much!

If you haven't signed another contract with other ISP you can't access the
others services. (normally! ...).
Check if you have automatic settings for IP (I mean for DHCP server because
he resolves name resolution by indicating the DNS server).
There are 2 different kind of wireless (WLAN, WPAN and WWAN). A WWAN
solution should give you a better mobility but it's more expensive.
Because you just pump in to the new network you should consider yourself
lucky to have access to others sharing (because they are very generous ...)
If you know some1 that is connecting regularly in that network check his
settings for the connection. (it is a possibility that the ISP has a
security policy based on MAC address ... but that's another story)

Cheers,

Well as i said before the wireless that i was successfully on was from my
house. Now i'm back at college after break, and we have internet here that i
have always been able to access before through my school's username and
password. i can't even get to that page that asks for my username and
password. when i open up Internet Explorer on my Toshiba running Windows
Vista, the IE can't "display the webpage". Any other advice anyone? Thank you

Yes, it is on and always has been on. As I said earlier, I can connect to the
network, that is not the problem, the problem is that I can connect to the
network but not the internet. I CAN find networks and CAN connect to networks
but the INTERNET DOES NOT work.
