Wireless Network Connection

Michael

I cant seem to get my wireless network connection to
work. I am using a Linksys WPM54G NIC in my Win2K system
and a WRT54G wireless ADSL Router/AP. Windows says media
disconnected. I don't think it is treating the card like
a wireless. I have moved the router to the same room,
tried to remove the NIC and reinstall the drivers and
software and still nothing. Please help!

did you configure your ESSID to something other than linksys on the router?
If so, you will need to make sure that the card in the computer is using the
same string, otherwise it will be reported as not being connected. Check
using the wireless configuration utility that should have been installed
when you installed your NIC.

Actually I did change the SSID, but I amde sure the
router and the WAN monitor both have the same SSID.

Thanks anyway.

Had the same exact problem with the same hardware....

try uninstalling the NIC utility, the open the PC remove the card, place in
a different PCI slot and reboot, then reinstall the drivers .
This fixed my problem. After unsuccessful telephone calls to linksys .
(They must outsource the support overseas)
I was ready to chuck everything and buy 2 access points to bridge, but I
finally got it working, working great now ( again, no help from linksys
support!)
