wireless network connection

I am able to connect to my wireless network - I can
receive e-mail in OE and surf with IE.

But the network connections icon shows 'not connected'.
When I try to repair the connection, it is able to
disable and then enable the connection, but shows an
error message 'the following action cannot be completed:
connecting to the wirless network'

How can I fix this?

If you can send email and surf the web and you have a broken connection
icon:

Does the pc or laptop ALSO have a standard network card installed or
onboard. If so and you are not cable-connected go to control panel, network
connections, right-click the LAN connection (not the wireless), select
properties, and uncheck the "show icon in notification area when connected".
