Wireless keyboard and double booting

Hello All!

I have just installed a wireless keyboard (Logitech 715). The trouble is
that it uses a USB connection that is not active until Windows XP boots.
Thus I cannot use the enter key or arrow keys when the menu of systems
is displayed. Has anyone any ideas about how to deal with this problem?
I'm going to try Logitech forums too.

This is a limitation of the motherboard. Try setting the BIOS to support
legacy USB devices, hopefully to enable them earlier, but if the hardware
can't support it, there's pretty much no way around it.

The ASUS board on this system does this kind of thing too. I keep a PS/2
keyboard on hand for emergencies.

Thanks, I'll see what is available. I have an ASUS motherboard too and I
wonder how I can interrupt the boot. I guess DEL won't work when there
is no keyboard output. It's a nuisance rather than a fatal problem but,
otherwise, I like my new Logitech keyboard.

Have you tried pressing the F Lock key? No Function keys work on this
keyboard until the F Lock key has been pressed. It complicates accessing
Safe Mode using the F8 key!

Borrow a standard kb till you make the changes to the BIOS.

Thanks everyone! The extra keyboard route seems to be the way to go. I
have an auxiliary number pad that plugs into a USB port and this becomes
active on the POST and allows me to select the OS and get into the BIOS
with the Del key. I still have the previous Logitech Keyboard and mouse
but they are unwieldy things to keep around.

I'm a bit further forward than yesterday.but I'd still be grateful for
suggested ASUS BIOS changes since I haven't worked out yet what is
needed.

The auxiliary number pad cost me all of $8.00 so I can still eat this
weekend! I could not find a PS/2 number pad and the BIOS informs me that
it can't find a keyboard but that does not stop the boot.

I know I am replying to my own post but I thought it might be useful to
give my impressions. I went thro the ASUS manual and the only thing that
I found that I might have been tempted to change is "Halt on all errors"
to "Except Keyboard". However, tho I get the voice message "No keyboard
found", the BOOT does not stop so I guess the Halt is for runtime
errors.

I might mention that I discovered offers of keyboards for sale from
MIcro Center for about $10 but the Targus numeric keyboard takes up much
less space, will do the OS choice and go to the BIOS controls. It also
gives me two plug-in USB sockets accessible from the front of the
computer.

I might mention a method that I have found useful. Rather than trying
to write down the BIOS panels, I photographed them with a digital
camera. The pictures can be printed at adequate resolution.
