Hello,

I was wondering if I could connect my desktop on a wireless router (lynksis)
connection, or do I need ethernet cable?

Thanks so much,
Gedy

I'm sorry if the question is stupid... but do you know how I can find out if
I do have an NIC card? I just purchased this awesome Dell Desktop and though
it's super fancy, I need it to work wirelessly.

Thanks,
Gedy

That's not a stupid question. A NIC card looks kind of like a modem but it
only has one plugin and has a bigger connector than a telephone line. You
probably already have one if the Dell was bought new but you will need a
wireless PCI card for a wireless connection for your desktop computer. Once
again you can buy one from a local Best Buy or go online to a site like
NewEgg.com (here is a link to desktop wireless card at NewEgg
http://www2.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=31 )

Another way of seeing if you have a NIC card is to right click on "My
Computer" go to "Manage" and then left click on "Device Manager" if you see
the words "Network Adaptors" then you have a NIC card.

Good Luck

It depends on if you have a wireless NIC card on your desktop computer. It would be cheaper to use a cable but you can pick up a wireless card for your desktop for around $30.
