Since my upgrade to SP2, I am having the following
problem with my wireless connection.

Everytime I reboot, I connect to the internet (my card
icon shows an excellent connection). But this little
monitor icon comes up and show it is looking for my
network address, it will try for a while and then say I
have no or limited connection. I can not go into the
internet.

I have to go into my connection properties, check the
automice configuration box on my wireless tab, select my
network and save and close, then it works fine, but next
time I reboot, I have to go through the same thing
because the box is unchecked again.

I have tried everything I can think of, made a new
connection, uninstalled and reinstalled the card, etc...

I do not have any other software installed that would
overwrite the windows settings.

I am using a Thinkpad T40 with a Lynksis wireless router.

Everything worked fine before I did the SP2 upgrade

Any one have a suggestion?

thanks

Am having a similar problem tonight with my daughter's laptop - popped
out of nowhere. Doing the following regained network access and some
NetBIOS file sharing for me.

Step 3 will reset TCP/IP to defaults. If you had any special settings
like static IP address, you will have to reset them to your preferences.

1. Disable UPnp in the Linksys router (for me, it's located in the
"Password" tab on the Linksys router configuration webpage -
http://192.168.1.1).

2. Open command console (Start/run, type in cmd, hit return). Run this
command to reset your winsock:
netsh winsock reset catalog

3. Run this command in the console to reset the TCP/IP stack and create
a log of changes in the root of C drive:
netsh int ip reset c:\TCPIPResetlog.txt
