wireless adaptor won't connect

I'm afraid I'm out of my league here, but what the heck.

I have a linksys router with access point. Ethernet cable
connection with my desktop works great, but can't connect
with wirelss adaptor in my laptop. Both PC's Win2000
SP4. Installed latest driver from Realtek for my TwinMOS
adaptor, and using Boingo to connect. Boingo indicates
the linksys router is available, signal strength is at
maximum, but when I attempt to connect Boingo ultimately
responds "unable to connect with linksys."

Any help would be appreciated... be gentle though.

be gentle? surely you jest?!

You're assuming we know what Boingo is. Some may, I don't. However, if
you're trying to connect to an AP and you have a signal strength, you need
to make sure you're using the same channel and you need the exact encryption
string if WEP is enabled. Your best option is to check the Linksys docs and
verify your settings. Without listing them here one can only guess.
