Wireess adapter-Install

P

Peter H.

I was asked by a friend to try to repair a HP zv5000 laptop with a dead HD.
I put in a new HD, in-installed Xp and updated to SP2, He told me that it
had a wireless adapter in it, but I find no evidence of it "control
panel-Network connections" or "Find new hardware".

Does anyone know how to "wake up" the wireless adapter or is this a question
for HP-Support?

Thanks,
PeterH

Look in the Device Manager under Network Adapters. If it is there, right
click the adapter and select Properties. It may be disabled. Look at the
bottom of the properties dialog.

The drivers are available here, if you gave me the correct model number:

Thanks for the pointers.
Nothing showed up in Control Panel, but I found a Application and Driver
Recovery Disk that had the needed driver. I'll match Joe's link up to see if
it is more up-to-date.
Thanks,

You might find it easier to use the dedicated HP recovery CD, then all
the correct drivers will be installed automatically.
