With a built-in wireless card and XP's automatic wireless connection system,
how does the issue of having both a wired and a wireless connection to the
same network get resolved?
Specifically I have a fully wired network here at home but also have a 11b
AP on the net. Since the wired network is nearly 10x faster than the
wireless network, I'd prefer to use that when I am at my desk. However
since the wireless card also kicks in, I get two IP addresses pulled from my
DHCP server for each interface.
Is there a way to set NIC priority under XP so if both the wireless and
wired networks are active to consider the wired network first? Or better
yet, can the wireless network be disabled when there is a wired network
active?
Thanks,
Peter
