Wiping Hard Drive, Need Help w/ XP

Hello all. I am planning on wiping my hard drive soon and was wondering if I
can reinstall windows XP just by using an update disk? Here is my whole
situation:

I am planning on flattening my current hard drive in my Dell computer. From
the factory Microsoft Windows ME was installed. Since then I have updated to
Windows XP. My question is this; will I be able to install Windows XP using
the update disk that I purchased with out also reinstalling Windows ME or do
I need a full version of Windows XP? Please let me know ASAP. Thanks for your
time.

The WinXP installation process will prompt you for the qualifying
CD, i.e. the WinME CD in your case.

Nitro, you have to start the clean install from your existing version of
XP.
10b If the hard drive or partition has a previous installation
of XP you want to remove, choose to delete the partition by pressing "D".
You will then be prompted to create a new partition in the empty space. This
will remove all data from the deleted space.
