WIPE OUT

I recently purchased this computer from a friend. I have the original XP Home that was (i believe) preinstalled on tihs machine. How do I wipe out every trace of him (e.g. Registration Name, Computer Name, etc.)? I deleted him as a user and added myself, but when i access my documents, his info still comes up (C:\HIS COMPUTER NAME\Documents and Settings\HIS NAME\file name). Also I can't access some programs under my user name. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

the best way is to do a reinstall from the installation disks from scratch.
just be sure to get copies of the latest service pack and security patches
before you do it so that you can install them without having to go on the
internet and expose the unpatched machine to the cold cruel world.
