Does anyone know what a *.wip file is. I have several on the c:\ drive
root folder. They are quite large (some almost 1 gig). I am wondering
if it is safe to delete them

Thanks

User web search engines and search for "wip". I found for example
http://bima.astro.umd.edu/wip/, which refers to wip. Look those search
results and remember what you have installed to your computer.
The above will. of course, provide some possible answers. An easier and more
convenient path is http://filext.com/index.php , there you can search directly
an amazingly complete DB of file types.

Thanks to both of you. I did try that. One source said it was a
"Windows Installer Project" file. Another said it was some sort of
custom program to do with astronomical issues.

Either one is not clear to me. I have no recollection what they
are....lol....I think I will archive them and see what happens.

thanks for your time

I solved this one myself. These particular files were created by
CyberScrub...a program that shreds data files on your system. The files
were created when the program terminated abnormally. No problem. I
just deleted them.
