WinXPe , slow boot times?

Ok... I've finally straightened out my mess with creating the image and
getting it onto the Target device. I've played around with it a little and
have installed Quicktime viewer and Media Player 10. Those are the only
software packages that are above and beyond my build. My boot times are
terrible. This is my Computers configuration...

Via Eden 667MHz CPU
Via 686B chipset
Via Twister Graphics Accel. (shared with main memory)
On board AC97 audio
PC133 246MB Ram
2GBHD 5400rpm.

My boot times at 667MHz is 4min. 03sec.
Overclocked to 800MHz is 3min. 20sec.

Is there something wrong in my build that is causing this terrible boot
times. If I create a normal desktop.. I'm sure my boot times (with similar
processor speeds) would be below 2 minutes. On my current machine (P4 2.8MHz
w/512mb ram) I get the system to boot in 35secs.

If you have network card then you can have additional delay because of
non-existing DHCP server.

Anyhow for us to know about your image it would be best for you to do:
1. Create empty project.
2. Add component "Milnlogon Sample Macro"
3. Resolve all dependencies and build image.
4. Tell us how long does it take for this image to boot.

You will hardly make image that boot faster then this, so use this time as
reference point.

I made an image on the exact same system (but with a CF as storage); my
image had explorer shell, started Internet Explorer at start; i do not have
the exact time but IT IS FOR SURE below 90 seconds.

If you need, i can send you the list of components of my slx file.

I will try this next. I have re-created the image with FAT32 and placed it
on an M-Sys 512mb flash card. I have the system now booting in 55 seconds.
I believe you're right though, I do have TCPIP and others setup with the
system still booting slowly (but it is attached to the network where a DHCP
server is giving it an address).

Betcha a nickel you are using a Winsystems EBC C3 PCB EBX form factor,
right?
Plug the Compact Flash into the Secondary socket, set it as Master or
plug the DOM into the 40/44 pin IDE socket on the Secondary IDE
interface and disable the Primary IDE interface in the BIOS.
Poof, it will load in 35 seconds........

Had the EXACT same problem with the exact same timing on bootup with a
700 Mhz board, same chip set from Winsystems.

It's actually a custom system built from the VIA specs for their ITX system.
We have a manufacturing plant that makes the systems for us. This is our
first foray into integrating it into something other than a small form
factor (light OS) system.
