Hi!

Can someone tell me why, when I start my Win XP Pro machine, I get to the
welcome screen and must click my username? There are no other users on the
machine. The only name there is mine.

Thanks!

Hi

Try this:

Start>Run - then type in "control userpasswords2" - without the quotes. Uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer'. In the 'Automatically Log On' box enter the username and password for your Account.

You probably have a password set up. Remove the password (change it to blank
in Control Panel > Users). then, you should be logged on automatically.

If this does not solve the problem, manually enable Auto Logon.
Download TweakUI for Windows XP from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads (the PowerToys page) and
launch it (from the Start > All Programs).
Goto Logon at the side, then Autologon. Enable "logon automatically at
system startup" and enter your username in the box. If you have a password,
you may need to use Set Password to enter it.
