I'm running on Windows XP2.
I'm using another program called "Audacity" which is a sound file
manipulation program.
It has a drop down box listing various inputs.
These are: Phone Line, Microphone, Line In, CD Player, Aux, SPDIF, Stereo
Mix and Mono Mix.

Anyway, I couldn't get it to input a MIDI file for conversion to WAV format.

I hooked up with an Audacity Guru who said I could use the "What you hear"
selection. Told him that was not an option for me. He said the options
come from Windows.... and he's running Windows ME.

I decided to search the Registry for it and I searched for "Microphone"
Couldn't find Microphone in the registry.

Does anybody know what's going on with this???

Thanks,
Doug

Your Microphone should be outside your machine not in the registry. :-) I
couldn't resist.

Sounds like your Audacity Guru was a lot of help. Pun intended.

What does using a microphone have to do with converting a MIDI file to a WAV
file?

Does your mic work with the Windows Sound Recorder?

"What U Hear" was included with some of the SoundBlaster sound cards, and is
a function of the card and drivers, not the operating system. I know it was
included with some of the Live cards, and maybe others. Basically, it lets
you record whatever you hear playing on the computer, without having to know
what the input really is.

I'm not sure why you were searching the registry for "microphone" though.
Converting one format to another shouldn't require the microphone at all.
Maybe you need to find a different guru.
