WinXP to Win98 Networking problem

R

Stupidly I got into Internet Connection Sharing when I meant to set up a
simple network between a WinXPhome PC and a Win98 notebook using a crossover
cable. I seem to have failed to get any communication from the notebook and
although the PC sees the notebook it cannot access any files (both sets of
My Documents have been set to share).

I would be most grateful if anybody could advise me on how to remove all
reference to Internet Connection Sharing on both computers and then start
again maybe by using the Create New Connection wizard.

Many thanks - Rob

I have discovered (maybe I'm wrong) that having spent a whole day on this problem you cannot get windows 98 to network properly to Windows XP (Professional and Home) using a cross over cable. I solved this by using a hub/switch and two straight through CAT5 patch cables. Everything worked after that. I KNOW this will work. Best of luck
