WinXP style buttons on web pages

It seems impossible to apply my own CSS style class to a <INPUT
type="button"> when running WindowsXP. The buttons always appear in the
WindowsXP style (round edges with yellow shading on mouseover) no matter
what formatting I apply to them. Anybody know a way around this? I want
WinXP users to see my web page including buttons, with the styles I
intended.

It may be a Java issue.
