WinXP Start up Problem

I'm not sure if anyone have had this problem but, I have an old computer
that was built in 98, It first had win 98 then I upgraded it to XP..

The specs:
p3 900 mhz Slot CPU
about 258MB RAM
8gb hard drive
A 16mb Nivida Vid Card

For some reason when i start it up, it runs through the first part of
recognizing the Hard drives and then the Cd-Drives but then right after it
loads up to the next screen it blacks out. Nothing is turned off but just
seems to stop running. Its not giving me any type of error. Does anyone
know what's wrong with it?

Also, it seems someone put a password on the bios and I can't access the
bios either.

I could reset the bios by switch the jumpers or taking the battery out on
the mobo??

Thanks for you help

Its not a PCI graphics card by any chance is it?

If you have a PCI card and and AGP one onboard setup will switch to the
onboard one.

I do not know what your problem is but mine was that I was running from on
old 8X CD-ROM. I changed to an old 32X and the problem went away.

Thanks for all your help,

I found out what the problem was. It was the video card driver. Basically
what i did was just install a new vid card driver and then with the XP CD i
repaired the xp system. I did it by both check disk /p and /r. Also did
the system repair from XP CD.

Thanks again all that helped.
