b4 the Blaster worm was ever released -- WinXP shutsdown
with no warning on a Toshiba Satellite 1805-S207 laptop.
The most BIOS firmware 2.10 was succesfully installed,
with no improvement. Toshiba states that it can only be
WinXP causing this as no hardware fault was detected by
Remote Assistance. All critical + recommended fixes have
been applied by Windows Update. Has anyone encountered
this problem in XP?

Hi,

A shutdown without warning indicates a probable hardware fault (despite what
Toshiba is saying). Go to the Control Panel/system/advanced tab/Startup and
recovery settings, uncheck the line to autorestart in the event of system
failure. This should produce an error message (blue screen) next time it
happens. Please post back with the details of the error message for further
resolution.
