WinXP Setup Can't Read RAID Driver Diskette

Hello,

I'm setting up Windows XP Home Edition on a new PC, running an ASUS A8V
Deluxe mobo, two Western Digital 800JU SATA drives and an onboard Promise
FastTrack 378 RAID controller. I already created a RAID 0 array and I
successfully loaded the RAID driver during the initial part of Windows setup.
WinXP had identified the partition and formatted it as NTFS successfully, but
after the format and checking of the disks, it returns a "The disk or CD you
entered may be damaged" error when attempting to read the RAID driver
diskette again. I tried copying to another floppy to no avail. There's no
option to skip, just to quit or keep trying. Is there a workaround such as
copying the drivers to C: after booting off a floppy?

Thank you,
Matt

Maybe your floppy drive is damaged. Try a new disk and drive. The floppy is
needed during the initial phase of the installation. After that you can pull
it out of the drive. If it asks for it again, something is not right.

How big is the disk and the partition you're creating? Might be a 48 bit
large disk issue. What Windows service pack is the cd at?

Raid 0 is fairly straight forward. Enable the controller in the bios (might
be two or three settings). Reboot. Setup your raid set with the Promise
utility. Continue with the Windows cd, press F6 when prompted for "Third
party drivers...". Then continue loading Windows. I'm sure you did it this
way.
