winxp search yields double results

Seaching files in winxp yields double results, meaning, it shows the same
file twice. What can I do to change that? Please email me at
(e-mail address removed)
 
Look very carefully at what you believe to be the second result. You
should find that it is actually a shortcut to the original.

Why would you want to disable finding files? If you don't want
shortcuts, delete them. Most of them will be found in "Recent Documents".

The second file is not a shortcut, but a duplicate. It is some sort of a
mirroring phenomenon. How can I disable this process?
 
Tools, Folders, View, Do not show hidden and system folders, and in
Search do not look in System and Hidden folders.
