WinXP Home Unable to Logon

We have a student-owned laptop with WinXP Home. The
student has a logon account with no password.

When using the Welcome screen, if you try to logon, it
says that it's loading her settings and just as quickly
says it's saving her settings and logs back off. It does
the same thing for the Administrator account.

Any ideas?

it looks like we're the only ones who have this problem. i've already reinstalled xp four times but nothing happens. please if anyone knows something tell me, i don't know what to do i've tried everything. please!!!!!!!!

You did a repair install or a clean install?

I did a repair install, and it didn't work, but i can't do a clean install because it says it will delete some folders like my documents and I don't want to loose them.
