My XP home edition box needed to be reinstalled last week,
so I threw in the emergency disk from the manufacturer, and
tried to install over the top of the existing OS. (all
patches before SP2 were installed).

While running the "install windows" bit, I'm getting an
error message popup that says: unregmp2.exe - Entry point
not found. The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be
located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL"

You can click on OK a few million times, but the error
never seems to go away, the install never times out and
moves on, about all you can do it hit the reset switch,
which eventually returns you to the same error after the
install restarts.

Anyone know how to work around this?

Thanks!

Disable any hardware devices that might be attached to the computer,
examples include external hard disk, USB Drives, scanners or printers.

Ericr, from Kelly's site:

"When the problem occurs, press Shift +F10 to bring up the command
prompt. Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window and press Enter. The
Task Manager should be started. If not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the
Task Manager program, select the error message window in the application
list and click "End Task". In the process list, terminate the
unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS prompt window and resume the
installation process.
