Is it possible to upgrade from WinXP 32 Bit a Vista ready Laptop to 64 Bit
Vista Ult?

The biggest is it allows for greater than 4GB of RAM to be installed.
Right now, there isn't a huge need for it. For video editing and things
it has a use, but other than that it's not much better.

They have apps and games available in 64-bit but they do not perform
much better, if any, than their 32Bit counterparts.

I think I don't understand. I try to explain with an example.

I got a PC Amd 64bit with Windows XP Pro 32bit installed. Can I upgrade that
winxp 32bit with Vista and obtain a 64bit installation? Or I have to buy a XP
64bit license? Or the upgrading ask me wich kind of installation run?

You cannot do an in place upgrade, retaining programs and data, from either
x86 XP or x64 XP to x64 Vista. You can, however, use an upgrade edition of
Vista x64 to go from either x86 or x64 XP as the qualifying OS, but you can
only do a clean install.

To use the upgrade product key to install x64 Vista, boot from the Vista DVD
with XP installed, enter the product key, it will check and see a qualifying
OS is installed, then allow you to do a clean (custom install). The XP
installation will be wrapped up into the windows.old folder which can be
deleted. Neither data or programs is migrated to the x64 Vista
installation.
