winsock2.exe

I am running widows 2000 professional and I seem to have
lost winsock2.exe from my windows program.
Is there any where I can get a download for it?
I have been to the microsoft site and put in the relevant
request in the search box but nothing comes up in the
search.
I would also like to know if this is a vital file to
windows or can I get away without it?

I had a virus and when I got rid of it,it widows came up
as a missing winsock2.exe file.
